TURN THE CORNER
From the Editor:

Finally!  The weather up north has given us a break and it sounds like the rest of the country has seen some sunshine and warmer temps as well.

Horses are starting to shed off and the spring futurities are up and running several girls are going to head to Washington for the Barrel Daze Futurity in April.

I have a mare entered in Washington, she was owned and trained by Lynn Kohr and will be ridden by her.  Dashing Misty Isle (Misty) is out of Dashing with Cash owned by Amy Lantis of Spearfish, SD.  Misty is very mature and solid so it is really fun to watch her run she just doesn’t make mistakes.  But this is the first time in my life I have had to let someone else run a horse for me but since Lynn trained her and Misty really loves and works awesome for Lynn and I don’t have time, this is the best way to go.  But let me tell you I am twice as nervous when Misty and Lynn run, more so than if I was riding her just because of the anticipation and the excitement of watching those two compete.  I always thought it would be kind of easy to set on the side lines an go "Yeah, that’s my horse out there running," but it’s not easy!  Mainly because you want things to always go well for both of them so neither one is disappointed, but so far Lynn and Misty have not had one disappointing run!  I hope when Misty’s futurity year is over I can ride her as “well” and make Lynn proud and nervous!

I have been a competitive barrel racer and barrel horse trainer for over 25 years. Many of my horses have gone on to compete in the college finals, high school finals and pro ranks. I have been a WPRA member for over 20 years and have visited the pay windows at some of the larger rodeos in the nation including Denver, Cheyenne and Houston.

My dream has always been to make training and "professional" knowledge accessible to anyone wanting to, or now competing in the barrel horse world.  Turn magazine is designed for women and men that have a fast paced life or anyone who lives in a remote area. Turn Barrel Horse Magazine gives you the opportunity to learn from the pro's at home or on the road.

Thank you for joining us at Turn Magazine, it will be a fun, fast ride!
